ContextOS: Protocols, Not Prompts
We spent two years training executives to whisper magic words to machines.
Helpful as scaffolding. Disastrous as strategy.
Prompt engineering is an enterprise anti-pattern. The next decade belongs to context-native AI —systems with durable memory, real-time awareness, and embedded policy that advise, predict, and act with attribution. Not chat. Counsel.
Company Law #1: No citation, no action.
Company Law #2: Decisions ship or they don’t count.
What is ContextOS?
Think of it as AI’s TCP/IP moment for work: a protocol stack where prose gives way to protocols.
MCP = Memory • Context • Policy
• Memory — Permissioned, versioned knowledge of your org: people, products, customers, metrics, decisions. “What did we believe on April 3?” should be a query, not archaeology.
• Context — Fresh, attributable signals from CRM, ERP, support, analytics + public filings, pricing, news. Time-stamped. Ranked. Traceable.
• Policy — How you operate: approvals, compliance, risk appetite, SLAs, tone. Policies travel with the task — not the app.
When MCP is intact, prompts collapse to intent: Approve. Decline. Simulate. Ship.
